Rules for users

Handling the goods to be transported

  • Theft/loss - TIWU is not responsible for theft or general loss of the goods. The responsibility lies with the person who was last in possession of the goods. The opposite parties must look at this together and come to a solution. In case legal action is taken, TIWU will provide the relevant data on the users and the shipment.
  • Damage/pollution - In any case of damage/pollution the sender/driver is responsible for it. The driver is responsible for the shipment from the moment the goods are handed over to him. The responsibility remains with him until he delivers the shipment to the destination.
  • Damage to the means of transport - If the means of transport is damaged by the goods to be transported, the driver is solely liable. The driver is not obliged to transport a consignment where he suspects that his means of transport may be damaged or soiled.

Prohibited goodes

  • Illegal/Breach of law - Consignments of illegal goods (e.g. weapons or narcotics) must be reported and may under no circumstances be transported. The report must be made to TIWU and the local police. TIWU does not support transport for goods that are against the law. The driver is liable for the transport of such goods.
  • Damage/pollution - In any case of damage/pollution the sender/driver is responsible for it. The driver is responsible for the shipment from the moment the goods are handed over to him. The responsibility remains with him until he delivers the shipment to the destination.
  • Persons - TIWU does not support or promote passenger transport.
  • Animals - TIWU does not support or promote animal transport.

Who may what?

  • Several goods as one shipment - The sender may declare several goods as one consignment, provided that the starting point and destination are the same for all goods in the consignment. If several goods are declared as one shipment, the total weight and size of all goods must be declared.
  • Cancel shipment - The sender and the driver may interrupt the transport at any time before handing over or accepting the shipment, if one of the following reasons occurs.
    • The sender decides that the programme no longer needs to be delivered.
    • The sender or the driver does not respect the pick-up time or the pick-up location.
    • The sender denies the driver access to the content of the shipment (before the driver accepts). The driver is allowed to know the content of the shipment, because he is responsible and therefore has to answer in case of a conflict of laws.
    • The sender has not declared the programme correctly. Based on the declaration of the distance, weight and size, the price for the shipment is calculated.
    • The sender or the driver will arrange for the opposite party to quickly unwind or pick up the transport. The safety of the driver and sender takes priority.
    • The driver is not able to deliver the shipment in the near future (max. 24 hours)
    • The driver bears a high level of responsibility during the transport of a high-risk shipment (e.g. fragile items or luxury goods).
    • The driver no longer has a means of transport to carry the shipment (e.g. defective car)
    • The sender could not organize a receiver.
  • Insight into the content of the shipment - Before accepting the shipment, the driver must ensure that the shipment is not dangerous or prohibited.
  • Tracking the shipment - The driver is not forced to share his location with the senders of the shipments to be transported. If he decides to share them, the location must not be manipulated by the user or any other application. The location must correspond to the truth.

Who has to do what?

  • Phone - Since TIWU does not provide a communication interface, the telephone numbers of both parties are exchanged. The contact must be established by the two parties alone.
  • Cancel - Shipments which are to be cancelled must be justified.
  • Breach of rules - Every user must report every rule violation. If dangerous or illegal items are involved, they are also obliged to report them to the local police.
  • Fraud/data theft - Asking for personal information, such as (e-mail address or password) is strictly prohibited. Every user is obliged to report any attempted fraud.
  • Damage/pollution - If the goods to be transported are damaged or dirty, the driver must report this to the sender.
  • Compliance with transport - The driver must keep to the places indicated. He has to pick up the shipment(s) at the declared starting point and is obliged to transport them to the declared destination.
  • Receiving the shipment - The sender is obliged (if necessary) to organize a receiver who will receive the shipment at the declared destination. From the moment when the receiver has accepted the shipment, the driver is not responsible for the shipment.
